Cave of the winds?


Was this one of the filming locations in the film?

Yes, this is one scene they filmed on the American side, the other scenes were shot from the Canadian side.

Just be truthful and if you can fake that you've got it made. ;)

Yep. Cave of the Winds is still there, and very close to the way it was in 1953. You gotta go there if you are at the falls.

The "clock tower" is the carillon at the rainbow bridge. In the movie, it is a featured part of the scenery on the Canadian side, and really stands out. Today, it is really easy to miss because they've cluttered up the Canadian side with all sorts of buildings and casinos and what have you, so it blends into the mess. Also, you tend to have your eyes down on your awaiting customs shake-down (where's my passport?) It is right there at customs, so your focus tends to be on meeting the immigration man and not looking up at the tower.

Bit disappointed that 'Cave of the winds' wasn't on my itinerary when I visited. Didn't help that some of the people on my trip didn't have multiple use visas, restricting travel back and forth across border.
