Cold War misfire

Much as I'm a fan of the Cold War movie, this one just didn't work for me. Pluses are production values, competent work from the principals, and the ballet numbers. The downside include the implausible plot, variable chemistry between Gable & Tierney, and simplistic b&w moralizing. Far from Gable's best.

It works for me, but only because I can enjoy it as a piece of fantasy rather than credible Cold War fiction. The plot is implausible, as you say, and it's unlikely that Gable's Russian would fool a native speaker. But there's enough suspense and humor in it for me, not to mention the luscious Gene Tierney.
