Spoiler.. but why?

I can understand the daughter not wanting to see her father get killed, but the doctor seemed like a consistently bad person throughout the film. I really didn't feel that there was any need to try and save him considering that he seemed to not care that much about the murders he was committing and since he was perfectly fine with experimenting on unwilling subjects. He's pretty much a villain in either form.
