To me the end is quite clear ***Spoilers***

Having gotten off my disappointment, I also want to contribute my 2 cents to the strange things towards the end.
To me, Marswell is by all means set on the character played by Grace. He tries to get this through to her anthropologist, over and over, and everyone else also knows ... but always, Don, the husband, is so convincing when speaking about his love to his wife, he is so full of praise of her, that Marswell kind of has second thoughts of breaking up this marriage. So he gets drunk and plays fervently with Kelly (not the one with grace), and when Grace comes, he pretends to find nothing in her, and even says so. Quite contrary to his feelings. Kind of Casablanca-style 'I do the thinking for both of us'.

the ape in the beginning steals the show completely. i had only seen parts of this flick before, and as i watched the entire thing now i thought it would have been hipper if he had actually chosen gardner of his own true will and not just "put on a show". when the leopard got shot it looked like it felt down the pit. the mixed footage between the actors and the wildlife looked the movie "dead men don't wear plaid", solomons mines from the same time period looks alot better on that field.

from my heart you transffered energy,
with the love you made me feel,
as i realised it was only use,
when you cut my heart out and licked the spoon,
honey for you i wished upon the stars,
like an ant-hill for you i worked my back off,
to realize i got bewitched from the start,
as you stomped on my remains like at the rodeo,
and left my heart an empty hole.
