Outstanding showcase of Ava Gardner

I thought Ava was outstanding in Mogambo. Great figure, sex appeal, and wit. Her interaction with the baby elephant and giraffe was priceless.

I agree, she was luminous and totally took the screen, even with Gable in a two-shot. How any man would choose the rather sexless and vapid Linda over the down-to-earth and sensual Eloise is a mystery.

Am I anywhere near the imaginary cliff?

Ava is one of the most underrated actors around. Hers is one case where she was truly too beautiful and such a party girl that lots of directors wouldn't consider her for serious roles. Tis a pity because she's great in heavy roles such as the character she played in "On the Beach".

couldn't agree more - it's my favorite Ava Gardner role - it's as if all her other roles constrained her - while this role set her free to be herself

beautiful as Grace Kelly was - she suffered in comparison to Ava - both physically - and in the acting department

Agreed! I loved her in this.

What wit? She didn't make up any of the dialogue; she had to learn it from the script.

Absolutely! She is superb in this movie. Full of wit, charm and spirit.

Yes it was. There has never been a time I wasn't mesmerized by Ava.
