Who is the narrator?

I can't decide if it is William Conrad or Orson Welles.

Neither - it's Robert beatty. I had to double check as it was bugging me!

I've seen it on various channels over the years but yes recently on bbc - any reason?

Robert Beaty was a Canadian actor was quite obviously not doing this naration. The narator was definately an English voice but with an American overtone. His first name came to me quite easily but then I stuck until Boom. I got it. I knew who it was from the start but could not get the name. I shall give you the first name and see if you can spot the surname. It's Michael???
