DVD from MGM coming late December, 2011

The Magnetic Monster finally gets its "official" DVD release in late December, 2011, from the MGM Limited Edition Collection. This is the series of high-quality DVD-Rs of titles owned by MGM (most of them, like TMM, originally United Artists films).

Retail price is $19.95. The release date varies somewhat from seller to seller. The only extra usually included on the MGM discs is the theatrical trailer, though it's not clear if this is on the TMM DVD.

This is the second of the three Ivan Tors early-50s sci-fi films to get its official release from MGM: Gog is being released in late November/early December. However, there's no word yet about the most elusive member of the trilogy, Riders to the Stars, so we can only hope that one day MGM will issue it as well.

But after years of DVD-Rs of so-so quality and spotty availability, it's welcome news that The Magnetic Monster is getting a mainstream, quality DVD release.

Thanks for the info on this release, hobnob..

The reviews on TMM at Amazon are encouraging, too.

You're most welcome, skylands. Gog is also worth while, too. But still no word on Riders to the Stars, unfortunately.
