I just had a 'Holy crap!' moment.

I just got through watching "The Andromeda Strain" for the first time in many years, and (like I said) I had a "holy crap" moment when it dawned on me that there are a lot of similarities between the two. They are alive, but not alive, they both readily convert matter into energy, and energy into matter. They both feed on energy and use it to grow. There are probably others, but I think I've made my point.

It shouldn't really surprise me when I remember the old adage, (forgive me if it's not exactly right) that there are only 4 stories that all movies are based on. There are variations in minor details, but that's about it.

It really hit me as I was watching the end when show an animation of the organism growing, with all the visuals and sounds going on. So I had to tell someone.

Agree, disagree, comments?

I haven't seen this one yet, but I know 'The Andromeda Strain' well. And by what you've written and the imdb description, it definitely reminds me of 'Andromeda'.
Got to look for this little gem.

funny i didnt see the parallels - and i'm a big fan of THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN - but you are correct - add another Siodmak/Tors film RIDERS TO THE STARS to the mix - and you have another vital part - rockets sent to space to scoop up meteors to bring back to earth

You are correct, sir! There are definite similarities.
