Dubbed Singing Voices

Who supplied the dubbed singing voices for Jane Wyman and Ray Milland?

reply

Jane Wyman was an incredible singer and wasn't dubbed. Don't know who dubbed Milland.

Wyman had a trio of hits in the early 50's "In the Cool Cool Cool of the Evening" (which won an Oscar for Best Song) with Bing Crosby, "Zing a Little Zong" (nominated for an Oscar) again with Bing and "Black Strap Molasses" with Jimmy Durante, Groucho Marx and Danny Kaye. All three singles cracked the top 35 on the Cash Box Top 50. Kaye sang "In the Cool..." with Wyman at the 1951 (held in 52) Oscar ceremony and recorded "No Two People" for the best selling soundtrack to "Hans Christian Anderson" with her. She had a contract with Decca and recorded a few different singles until the mid 50's. Of course as is true of many of her biggest successes the duets with Bing were hammydowns: Cool was written for a Betty Hutton film but wasn't used and Jane's role in "Just For You" was intended for Judy Garland.

She sang in a number of Warner's productions over the years and sang a lot in public at Bond rallies during WW2. She was never mentioned but I dare say she was part of the lawsuit against Universal Music which owned the Decca catalogue a few years back led by Peggy Lee. All 4 of these songs are still available on different CD's.
