Worst Voiceover Ever!

I was only half watching the movie and at one point I hear this big booming singer, of the Nelson Eddy type. I look up and it is supposed to be Ricardo Montalban! I love RM and thought he had a fine voice on his own, although I have no idea if he could sing, but if he did, it would NOT sound like this!

reply

Yeah, I noticed that too. Like where is this coming from? Is this suddenly a musical? And why would the owner of some horses know how to sing?

reply

RM could sing very well. He had a career on broadway. Singing.

"And why would the owner of some horses know how to sing?"

In musicals, anybody can know how to sing (and/or dance). It's a convention of the art form, and part of the suspension of disbelief the audience agrees to from the outset.

reply

The voice sounds like it belongs to Fernando Lamas who was replaced by Ricardo after getting into an off-screen spat with Lana.

reply

The voice, according to "Hollywood Song" by Ken Bloom, is that of Carlos Ramirez, who appeared in quite a number of MGM musicals.

reply

Ricardo could sing, but not in that big operatic style. It obviously wasn't him.

reply

Hellotus has the correct reply. The singing voice for Montalban was that of Carlos Ramirez, a fine singer - and the soundtrack recording of A Little More Of Your Amor by Ramirez was released in 1953 by MGM Records on a 78. The song became quite popular.
