Kirk's Best Performance.

Why does this film go so unrecognized? This is Kirk's Fred C. Dobbs. Life will always be a mystery to me.

I just watched this, and I must say I loved this film. I do not understand why it has received such low ratings here. The final few moments in the room showed Kirk Douglas as an amazingly gifted actor. The pain in his eyes was haunting. He is also one of my favorite actors of all time.

Kirk Douglas' Hans Muller portrayed a harsh reality of those sick and suffering from emotional dis-ease, namely that of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder inflicted by having lived the Holocaust. His empathy for such victims was deep and his performance well acted. Douglas took a big chance to reveal the human side of man, especially in a time when very masculine characters dominated the Cinema. His integrity and courage to follow through earns my respect and appreciation.
