The Scariest Aliens

It struck me when I first saw this movie that there are three attitudes alien visitors could have toward earthlings - benevolence, malevolence, indifference. The third, as portrayed in It Came From Outer Space, is the most disconcerting. You can do something with friendly or attacking aliens. What do you do when the aliens just don't care? It's such a blow to the ego. You would want to kill those green bastards and show them that you matter, right?
