narration

Ususally I enjoy a little narration in a film, there are many that were an intrigal part of the movie (Goodfellas,Casino,Shawshank Redempiton). However the voice and writing of the narration in 'Island in the Sky' was a little strange. The beginning sounded kind of like those cheesy 50's instructional reel to reel that you would see in school (Ok it WAS made in the 50's). Thankfully the narration guy did not add much more throughout the film. He did have one good line though ,after Wayne hit the guy who was becoming histarical and left the tent looking upset with himself narration guy says "Did you ever hit you kid?"

Overall a very good movie.

"You sent us to guard the wrong man Mr. Chalmers."

"Naked City" (1948). I wonder if that film influenced this one in that respect, only 5 years later.

Among the worst narration in any film - unnecessary, tedious, silly, overwrought.

Island in the Sky or Naked City?

The past is a series of presents. The present is living history we are priviledged to witness

Island in the Sky.

Sorry for the late reply.

I started watching this for the first time this afternoon and turned it off because of the narration, which I found absolutely grating. Now that your post tells me there's not that much of it, I'll give it another try in the future.
