Colonel Fielding! Colonel Fielding!

Like many on this board, I saw this on TV in the mid-'50s. The boy, David MacLean, at one point yells out, "Colonel Fielding! Colonel Fielding!" He spoke it too indistinctly to understand clearly what he was saying. To me it sounded like he was saying, "Conna Fusing! Conna Fusing!" After that, whenever my mother and I saw a show with actor Morris Ankrum (Colonel Fielding) in the cast we would say, "There's Conna Fusing."

Good story and very typical of how long the memories last from this and other old Sci-Fi movies. I first saw Invaders From Mars in the early 50's at the Saturday matinee at our local movie house. Neighborhood parents would take turns carting a carload of kids to the movies. Great for them and for us. Some of the movie scenes would be acted out on playgrounds and at school the next week. Funny how this left us with lasting, wonderful memories. What fertile imaginations we had!
