On DVD yet? - Houdini (1953) Discussion

This is a great movie and should be part of a two-pack DVD - the kind of packaging they do for movies that no longer have huge followings. My favorite scenes are when he transitions from illusions to 'real magic' - and he hunts down a magician in Europe. Eerie and fun.

It would be great to see this come to DVD. Many of producer George Pal's films are finally getting the DVD treatment, so maybe one day....

I got a beautiful import copy from Ebay brand new. It has chinese subtitles that you can turn off.

I was looking at that same DVD on ebay. I was curious as to the quality of the transfer. Also is it in English as the VHS was? Can i turn off the subtitles and watch it with the original soundtrack ???
Would you recommend it?

I can't believe there is no DVD for this. I was gonna order it on Amazon but there's nothing. We used to have it on VHS when I was a kid (have no idea what happened to that) and I loved this movie. Oh well.

perhaps Paramount is waiting to rerelease this film via DVD to coincide/tie-in with a new updated Houdini bio-pic??? This would be a similar situation for the dvd rerelease of another George Pal film they distribute, 'War Of The Worlds'.

I taped this years ago off of Cinemax to VHS then transfered to DVD. The sound is marginal but I'm fortunate to have it. This fantastic movie really should be released on DVD with hopefully some commentary from Mr. Curtis.

Try to catch "Houdini: Unlocking the Mystery" on The History Channel. Fantastic documentary!

The next showing is on Sunday, 5/20 @ 1:00 PM on The History Channel.

Yep! Bought a copy from deepdiscount DVD. Very clean transfer of a classic Curtis film.

Can't believe it's not on DVD, i was watching Operation Petticoat the other day and was reminded of the Houdini movie i saw when i was young, i can remember very little but i'll never forget the escape from the straight jacket as he stares intently into the light, i could never shake that image and would love to own the movie, seeing Curtis i thought well i must look for that film, but alas, typically it's not available on DVD.

The movie is available on DVD. I just rented it through Netflix. I'm sure it's also available to buy somewhere.
