Better the second time around

Halfway through this movie now, looks a bit strange, thanks to those silly "over the top" 3D movie shots. Wayne seems to be just walking though his role, but surprisingly candid views of Indians, a rather blunt shooting of the husband....hoping for a rousing finale. Will have more...
Finished watching it again, better the second time. Ending seemed a bit over the top (and no wonder, directed by John Ford, as mentioned in the added features). Westerns now look a bit campy and dated, given all the current world events, but good acting makes this one interesting anyway.

Great old Westerns like this don't seem campy and dated to me.

Of course, the 1950s were a simple, innocent time, with no "world events" going on, so the movie didn't look campy and dated then. But we are just too sophisticated and aware now, in our complicated world.
