I agree - for an Australian actor to come over and play an Apache chief so very convincingly was a pretty phenomenal acting feat!

Watch Curse of the Undead (1959) to see Pate as a vampire gunslinger. Seriously.

He was a chameleon, changing appearances and personalities to fit the role he was in.

In the Cheyenne episode Border Affair, he plays a French army officer with a very smooth delivery, and he's unrecognizable in the role.

A darned solid character actor that raised the bar in every production he was a part of.

I saw that movie as a kid and thought it was very effective. Interesting concept, too, a gunslinger who can't be killed because he's already dead.

Pate was charismatic.
