Ace Ventura 'When Nature Calls'?

I saw 'His Majesty O'Keefe' for the first time today on TCM. Anyone else notice the similarities of Burt Lancaster fighting the Native Warrior to the fight scene in which 'White Devil' (Jim Carrey) fights Tommy Davidson (small native warrior that pops out of basket)? It looked like the Ventura directly borrowed this scene from the O'Keefe' movie for the Ventura movie altho I'm sure other movies have had this same type scene. It's just that the other natives on the sidelines, the battle taking place in white sand, the native hitting the drums etc. just looked so close & made me kind of laugh hoping that the guy would turn Burt Lancasters hair into 'horn shapes'!! LOL. Anyone know if they did this as an homage or if it's just coincidence?
