from UK Radio Times:

2:30pm - 3:50pm
BBC2 London & South East
In this western, Universal's new star Rock Hudson, loaned out here to Columbia, gives an adequate performance as a rancher whose fiance (Donna Reed) is suddenly abducted. The film boasts a moody plot that pits the gauche, honest and upright Hudson against psychotic baddie Phil Carey (who's outstanding)* and his gang (including Lee Marvin). This exciting psychological western was originally filmed in the novelty of 3-D (though released without the 3-D gimmick in the UK), and one wonders whether director Raoul Walsh had encouraged inexperienced star Hudson to overproject his acting. There seems to be no other reason, as in the previous year's The Lawless Breed Hudson gave a beautifully controlled performance for the same director.
