All this talent and only a 6.3?

The dance talent in this movie alone should make for a higher grade than a B-.
And then there's Debbie Reynolds too. That should have made it a really popular movie back in the day. Guess there are not many fans of this type of music and dance semi-drama. Except for me.

Also, I like the Fosse number in Dobie Gillis (where he danced with Bobby Van, I believe). That was superb (tap).

You say there was a lot of talent in the movie but according to the Trivia it was a low budget movie and it shows. I love Debbie Reynolds she wasn't enough to save this dud for me. I think the other 'talent' are mostly dancers not actors so the dance numbers were fine, if you like that kind of thing. I do, just not in the middle of a movie. On their own merit the dance numbers were entertaining but the movie I found boring.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]

I love musicals and I'm sorry but Marge Champion looked like Mrs Lovey Howel from 'Gilligan's Island'. She was 13 yrs older than Debbie Reynolds and it showed. In film you have to have the total package. She had no screen personality at all. For example: Bob Fosse's 2nd wife, Joan McCracken, had a big dance number in the film 'Good News' and her personality made it pop! I love Bob Fosse to death but he and Gower Champion couldn't pull it off either. They were just ok in their speaking parts. This film also needed a big name like Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly to make it pop and sizzle. He would have stolen the film from the gang.
