Just finished watching this. I am a BIG William Powell fan, and like him in anything! Have to admit I got a little nervous.....but I am pleased the way it ended.
I especially enjoyed the clothes...William Powell was always a dapper dresser.
What a great icon from the Golden Age of Hollywood....handsome, sexy, debonair, suave...you name it he had it....I see why Jean Harlow fell in love with him.
"OOhhoo.....I'M GON' TELL MAMA!"
How does it end. I rewound, and the Loren movie came on.
Liz's character had just left because her husband had threatened her father. Then Sophia Loren came on.
It ends kind of abruptly, there is no scene with Lamas holding Liz captive during a shoot out like you expect. He leaves and is driving in a car. I walked out of the room and the next thing I know, Liz is being interviewed by the press about his death. I guess one of his ex gang members gunned him down. The last scene has her feeling remorseful with her father, like she should have. I never got the impression she and the mobster loved each other, it was all lust.
shareA clincher? Richard Burton teased her for being short-waisted. He called her a dwarf.
A very beautiful one.
Watching right now. Didn't see what just happened...the husband giving up the rackets. Sound too good.
