Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

My dear grandmother is convinced that CCBB was in some way based on Genevieve. Can any one shed any light on this matter...?

Thanks!

I'm sure there is no connection at all.

As previous poster said. Apart from the fact that they both feature old cars there is no connection whatsoever.

'...Zborowski and the Chitty Chitty Bang Bangs...' (Google it for full info..)

Fleming pinched the name CCBB from a famous racing car post WWI that had an enormous engine from an aircraft - or even from a Zeppelin. When WWI ended, there were hundreds of finished engines that would never go to war. These 'war surplus' engines were freely available and very cheap. The Sunbeam even had two engines strapped together. They had huge cylinders and when 'ticking over' made the onomatopoeic sound 'chitty chitty bang bang' (just as a steam loco goes 'chuff chuff chuff chuff' and a dog goes 'woof woof'). Fleming obviously thought it deserved immortalising, and who would argue? (Lollipops, Children!!)

Thank you for that bit of trivia. I always liked the movie, but I thought the title was gay--now I don't.

Also the original racing cars name was "Chitty Bang Bang". This name is based on an army song about a chit which gave the soldiers permission to visit the local brothel.

How about the GEN II plate of Chitty? That's a reference, surely?

(Ps. Sorry for the zombie thread :)

The reference was Genii, it is pointed out in Fleming's original book.
