Why so few films about cricket?

The Final Test is one of very few films about cricket - I can only think of 3 in total including the mini-series 'Bodyline' in fact. Why is this? Cricket is a potent metaphor for life which has been underused in dramatic contexts.

Probably cos of a lack of interest in the game in the US. Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India was one. India might change that lack of cricket films.

Maybe they are more likely to use golf over cricket? There are several golf movies, and I remember The Legend of Bagger Vance the most. There's one with Shia LaBeouf The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0388980/.

I don't know if the sports channel really follow cricket on the USA side of the world (I'm thinking cricket is more for Europeans even though I don't follow sports much). I've seen local networks and US networks such as NBC will move around or preempt their Saturday or Sunday schedule so that a golf tournament can be shown. I wonder if cricket might be equal to bowling for TSN (The Sports Network) for screen time?

Okay, so I looked up how this game is played, and it's a little like baseball (not golf, as I had thought. I mistaken cricket for croquet). I guess a movie would rather have rugby show up in a TV show (Friends when Ross was dating Emily) or movie (I think it was in Wedding Crashers). I don't know if a whole would be dedicated to rugby though. But if a movie was made like that, in the USA it would be a football movie like Rudy. Lots and lots of football movies.

I guess it goes that I can't answer your question for sure.
