definitely rivals bogdanovich's debut- Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women. but this is one of the worst debuts ever by a great filmmaker.

James Cameron's Piranha Part 2: the Spawning. Much worse than Fear and Desire.

By all accounts Francis Ford Coppola's skinflick "Tonight for Sure" is pretty rotten too... but the film is so rarely seen that one wonders if Coppola is trying to suppress his debut the same way Kubrick did.
