No Commentary?

What a shame there is no Audio Commentary by Esther Williams on this film and the others in these Boxed Sets. Did Turner Classic Movies not think of it, or did Ms. Williams want too much money? To have commentaries on these movies would have been worth whatever money Esther Williams wanted and however long it took to record them.

I would say that the reason there's no commentary is because they weren't deemed "important enough" films. In all honesty, one has to admit that the Esther Williams vehicles of the 1940s and 1950s were not any great shakes, but meant to be light, frothy entertainment. Nothing more. With that said, what people tend to overlook about her films is how perfectly and spectacularly they did just that. Granted, they aren't "An American In Paris" or "Singin' In The Rain", but they more than proved themselves with audiences.

I cannot fin any listing for the lady-clown, supposedly Esther Williams, but I don't think that lady in Miss Williams. She has skinny legs. (The lady I mean).

reply

Williams is the clown. No question. Her "skinny legs" are the result of the perspective created by the costume.
