This should be at top 100 list

Why isn't Duck Amuck on the IMDb top 100 list? it should be since it has an average vote of 8.3, and the lowest average vote on the top list is, iirc, 7.7. So it fits in there. I can't see any reason for it not to be there. Why are cartoons/shorts banned from the top list?

Amybe because it ain't a movie but a shorty. It's only 6 minutes and 55 seconds long.

It should be... I loved this! I always remember getting exited when it would show on TV. It was awesome! The way he changes and changes and changes untill he's unrecognisable... Genious!!

Not enough votes probably.

The only things considered for the Top 250 are feature-length, non-documentary films. However this page (http://imdb.com/Sections/Genres/Short/) says it's the 10th greatest short currently listed on IMDB today.

Now go away. You've seen enough of my... my secrets.

It is now at #5 spot

Vinni-Pukh (1969)
Homme qui plantait des arbres, L' (1987)
Presto (2008)
One Froggy Evening (1955)
Duck Amuck (1953)
Nuit et brouillard (1955)
More (1998)
Kiwi! (2006)
Rabbit of Seville (1950)
Wallace & Gromit in The Wrong Trousers (1993)

I've seen 9 out of top 10 by now (excluding Homme). funny how Vinni-Pukh is at #1. It is 1 of my top 3 short favorites

Here's the short film Top 50 (and bottom 10): http://www.imdb.com/chart/short. Duck Amuck is currently number 3.

You're correct in that's one of the criteria--at least 20,000 votes. So even if cartoon short films were considered, it would be way short of enough votes to count.

The 50 Greatest Cartoons: As Selected by 1,000 Animation Professionals is a 1994 book by animation historian Jerry Beck, consisting of articles about, and rankings of fifty highly-regarded animated short films made in North America, as well as many other notable cartoons. It generated a significant amount of notice and discussion at the time, and is still commonly cited. The list itself aimed to be authoritative by taking votes from 1000 people working in the animation industry.
Each cartoon on this list had to be under thirty minutes long and cel animated (with Gertie the Dinosaur being an exception noted in the book). The results leaned heavily toward the output of Warner Bros.'s Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series, and the work of director Chuck Jones (four of the top five, below). All the works cited were filmed before 1960, with the exceptions of the 1985 short The Big Snit (at #25), the 1988 short The Cat Came Back (at #32), the 1969 short Bambi Meets Godzilla (at #38), the 1987 short The Man Who Planted Trees (at #44),and the 1975 short Quasi at the Quackadero (at #46).
