John Wayne was not in Donovan's Brain but he was in Donovan's Reef as some sort of Hawaiian chief.
shareDonovan's Reef has NOTHING to do with this superior scifi work. That Reef sank long ago.

In Donovan's Reef John Wayne plays the wily Armenian businessman.
He has acquired a new body and is posing as an expatriate U.S. Navy veteran.
He manages to take control of Lee Marvin's brain (quite an achievement!) and by forcing him to marry Dorothy Lamour he takes over control of The Reef, now called Gilhooley's Reef.
It is all pretty scarey.
