Naval cold war?

Terry McBride's boat is called "American Beauty". Sorensen's boat (whoever owns it) is called "Volga Boatman". Was such a name ever used in the Carribeans? Whatever the answer, it's hard not to think that the choice of names for the ship used by the basically good and bad people in this film doesn't reflect a cold war mindset.
