I liked this film

Delightful. The acting and delivery of lines was a little stiff and but it is a lovely story. You got a sense of who the characters are straight away and I was rooting for C.T.
I liked the friendship between C.T and Tanya. And the relationship between him and the teacher. Dorothy Dandridge was a good looking lady. Her character was patient with C.T and she just knew he had it in him to do well.
I liked how C.T had such a love for nature and really observed things. It is very much like myself. I will stop to enjoy looking closely at nature.
I'd like to think he became an artist of natural science and did illustrations for books just like the one the teacher showed him.

I agree. It was a touching film and Dandrige definitely had a strong maternal instinct. I wonder if she had her daughter yet by the time she made this film. She just seemed like a natural with the children.
I also was rooting for CT. For a rebel, he was quite polite and well spoken--always referring to his elders as ma'am or sir. I guess times are very different. In this day and age, kids who are considered rebels are bad as ever and nothing like CT. I guess it's safe to say that CT was just misunderstood.

I like watching these old films with young children because finding out what the kids are up to now intrigues me. Apparently, the young actress who played Tanya passed from cancer.

That's a shame about cancer.
She was a cute actress.

CT wasn't too much of a rebel. I think they were trying to "nip it in the bud" before he totally went off the rails. I think all he needed was encouragement. When he got that C he was overjoyed.
Another thing, there was no contact with his parents. No phone calls or visits.
I had two sons. And on occasion I'd get that phone call from the teacher. Lol
My boys were overall good kids but on occasion they'd act up. Teachers always wanted to keep me informed.
