One of the reviewers claims that Paramount implies scrimped on the budget of BOTANY BAY bevause it was Ladd's last film with Paramount. Ladd's last film for the studio was actually SHANE, certainly an A -picture budgeted film.

Shane was filmed from July to October, 1951 (although not released until April, 1953). So yes, Botany Bay was Alan Ladd’s last film at Paramount.
