shareI just watch it, even though I've seen this movie before. It's very good, and has some parallels to the recent Jodi Arias case. So, it is good to see in this new light.
“Remember the tea kettle–it is always up to its neck in hot water, yet still sings”
Just saw this on TCM. It's a watered down, "womens' movie" version of The Blue Dahlia, which in turn was a watered down version of the actual Black Dahlia murder. Loved the polynesian restaurant, Nat King Cole tickling the ivories, and exotic cocktails! Always fond of Ann Sothern, even though she's already over the hill. Despite the typical "blame the victim" prosecution of that era, Ann would probably have been either convicted of manslaughter at worst or acquitted. Raymond's fellow Pasadena Playhouse actor George Reeves was the thoughtful homicide detective. Fritz Lang made convincing movies despite the studio constraints. The happy ending: Richard Conte has a hot date lined up with Ann! PS Jodi Arias is a butcher who deserves to fry. No comparison whatsoever here.
