Rose's first appearance

Am I the only one who could have done without Rose talking on the phone? The scene was probably inserted to make sure the viewer knows Harry is no good, and that something bad is going to happen to Norah. However…I just knew it wasn't the last time we see her. She was desperate to talk to him. He had changed his phone number, so she had to come in person.
Without that scene, I would have thought that Norah did take Harry out with the poker…it was either her or the "with a passion that was bigger than both of us" girl, who the amateur detective foolishly dismissed because of her shoe size.
