I agree.

Me too. I thought it ended too quickly.

I'm all right, I'm alllll right!

That's exactly what I rated it. It's a solid murder mystery, and I really enjoyed it.

Not good at all.

I enjoyed this movie just by virtue of the fact that Raymond Burr played
his role to the hilt! He was so lecherous when drawing and talking to
the ladies at the phone company! You could see it written all over his
face when he was trying to get them to go out with him. They seemed to be
oblivious to this, with the exception on Ann Sothern's character....she
could see right through him! On the other hand, Anne Baxter's character
was soooooo naive!

Also, I think that Raymond Burr's size, height, weight, and strength,
would lend to the fact that he could physically overpower the women
he lured into his lair!

What city smart young woman living in an apartment with other young women,
doesn't know that you DO NOT go to a man's apartment on a first date;
especially a man you just met and really don't know, in the 1950's no less!

Exactly my thoughts! I don't get why some reviewers claim Burr was miscast. He was always great in noir films (or noir-inspired, as this one)…my third cousin and I are noir enthusiasts, and when we dig up one with Raymond Burr, we take guesses how he will be killed this time.

BTW…I wonder if Norah was really meant to be that naive. Maybe she wanted to be bold that evening? Reading a "Welcome to Dumpville" letter on your birthday can impair your judgment, and maybe she wanted to prove herself something. She's not surprised at all that there are no other people at Harry's "party", and then she seems to engage in some sort of role play, pretending that Harry is her old boyfriend (Why did you write that letter? Why did you have to meet that nurse?) and only starts to backpedal when things are getting heavy.

If it please the court…
