Five coffees and 2 burgers ... for $ 1.40 -- i love it! AND, the coffees are served with SEPARATE creamers!

$1.40 would be about $12.40 in 2015 money. And the way they were eating those burgers - in the wrappers and hers slipped and she laughed, and he said he never figured out how to eat them - were they without buns?

They still serve them that way - wrapped in paper - at The Apple Pan on Pico and have since before WW II. They are so juicy that it squirts out. Best burger in LA, btw.

But remember, wages were so low that 3 working women had to share a 1 bedroom apt.
