Foghorn...?

Ever since I've known about this movie I've always heard about the foghorn almost luring the beast up, but when it came to that scene I don't remember being able to hear said foghorn. Am I going deaf at this young age of nearly 30, or what?

The original story (which was called The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms when first published but later renamed The Fog Horn) the movie is based on has a sea monster being lured to a lighthouse by a fog horn. Maybe that fact got people confused that a horn attracts the beast in the movie.

In the movie, it wasn't a foghorn that attracted the beast to the lighthouse--it was the guy up at the lamp playing the squeezebox for no apparent reason except to attract beasts from 20,000 fathoms!

well, that's disappointing. I think that if they remake that movie they should go with a foghorn because it's much more frightening, I think.

BTW, sorry I took so long in coming back here to say thanks for the replies; I done plumb forgot about this thread I made.

I don't remember a foghorn either. In most scenes it was light that attracted the beast.

The original story has a wistful angle to it -- the creature responds to the sound of the fog horn because it's lonely and looking for more of its kind. The melancholy is palpable, but I can understand their ditching it when they set out to make an atomic creature flick for the drive-ins.

But it would be good to see a remake, I think, that sticks closer to the original story.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
