Too bad Vincent Price didn't play Jeff Cordova

All the time I was watching Jack Buchanan, I was picturing how much fun Vincent Price would have had with the role.

I'm the kind of guy, when I move - watch my smoke. But I'm gonna need some good clothes though.

It would have been interesting to see what VP might have done, but no where near as moving. Especially when you realize that you're watching the two greatest theatrical dancers of their time. In the 1920's and 30'a Jack Buchanan was THE musical comedy star in Britain...along with Ivor Novello and Noel Coward.

It was a grand homage from one star to another, and I'm so glad we have the chance to see it.

Just as a side note, does anyone know if Vincent Price ever actually did a musical?

Hmmm... Well, he sang in "The Great Mouse Detective", but it was sort of the way Rex Harrison sang. Not really like a trained singer, but still right on the notes.

Flat, drab passion meanders across the screen!

Price appeared in a flop Broadway musical called "Darling of the Day" back in 1967 or '68. Despite songs by Yip Harburg and Jule Styne and a libretto by Nunally Johnson, I don't think it lasted more than 40 performances. I'm not sure if there's an original cast album.

Saw a revival of that some years ago.

Vincent Price was in a BBC version of Ruddigore in the 1980s as Sir Despard Murgatroyd. His singing was passable enough to get him through the role.
