John Dierkes is one of my favorite character actors and is totally unknown today, which is is amazing when you consider his height and craggy features.

There is something charismatic about the soft spoken Dierkes whose gentle screen presence was at odds with his imposing height, as if he was compensating for towering head, shoulders and more over his fellow cast members.

Dierkes can also be seen as one of the defenders of the Alamo in the John Wayne version of the battle.

He had a long list of film appearances between 1948 and 1973. The actor died in 1975.

To God There Is No Zero. I Still Exist.

Yes, Mr. Deirkes was underrated and led an interesting career. None of my movie reference books gave much info about him (if they mentioned him at all).

Thanks for the trivia!
