no sympathy for hotheads

18 mins in, no one has even been murdered yet, but i already cant stand the protagonist apparent. he seems rather stupid and has anger management issues. this ones gonna be hard to sit through, but i've heard its good, so i'll hang tight and finish it.

I didn't like him either, but loved the performance of Evelyn Keyes, and the way she filled out that white shirt she was wearing, Wow.

Nbroyles, did you finish watching it? Wonder if you changed your mind

Don't know why people feel the need to post about what they don't tolerate in other people/characters (especially when the film just started - this is a Twitter/Facebook Age problem)...who cares? I hope you didn't "hang tight"and finish what is an excellent noir. No sympathy for whiners, and you don't deserve it.

Besides, I can't imagine how someone like yourself with no apparent human foibles could ever appreciate film noir anyway...the whole thing is about human weakness! Ugh!

Good point TracyMarch...
Whilst I could certainly see the OPs point..It seems a bit pointless to complain so soon into a film.. a Film Noir... a type where a principle defining principle is a human flaw that will bring a (mainly) sympathetic person down due to their own actions.
Yes, sure, he was a hothead, and not a guy I would chose to spend much time in a bar with.. but he certainly didn't deserve the situation he ended up in.

Perhaps for the same reason "people feel the need to post about what they don't tolerate in other" people's comments. The OP had no sympathy for the character; you had no sympathy for the OP. What's to complain?

Although, by June of this year, you had posted this about George Segal's character in Loving: "...he was a nasty guy...Segal's character has a sense of entitlement like few Everyman characters I've seen."

So perhaps there was some modification in your point of view over the ensuing year and a half.

Poe! You are...avenged!

What about his wife screwing around on him? Or Evelyn Keyes using him to get an acting part by lying to him that she killed a man? They all have flaws in this one.
