Surprise appearance of future star

I just watched this film on Channel 5. The last boy to approach Barts Mother to sign up for the mass piano playing in the the final scene looks remarkably familiar. I'm not going to say immediately who I think it is as its more fun to have people check the scene out and comment. I've looked this guys credentials up on IMDB and this film does not appear on his list, but as he's only on for about five seconds this wouldn't be unusual.

He would have been about eight years old at the time and was a couple of years away from having his first big break and about 12-13 years away from having a further break and direction change. Nuff said.

Anybody who can get hold or have a copy of this film check the scene out and see if you think you know who it is.

Just tell us.

Looks like David Keith - who played Sid in: An Officer and a Gentleman.
But it cant be cos he was born in 54 and the film was made in 53 hmmmmmm

reply

I think I know. I even stopped the DVD, went back to see him again, and I'm gonna say it's Mickey Dolenz.

Email me back if I'm right. I don't always re-visit my IMDB replies.

Actually, Mickey Dolenz...hmm. I'm pretty sure I recall an episode of the Monkees where Mickey is wearing the fingers beanie.

Is this the one credited as Kim Charney? If so, he actually speaks his name in the film, and according to IMDB he had a 10-year career after that. And in fact I thought he looked like the guy who played Knuckles in Back to the Future, though it wasn't him. But probably I'm talking about someone different from you anyway...

I'll stop now :|

I remember Davy wearing a Happy Fingers hat in an episode, not Micky.

That boy's name is Kim Charney, just as he says in the film. He continued working as a child actor, getting bit parts mostly in television, until he was 18. Then he quit. He went on to be a surgeon.

So whoever you thought he was, you were mistaken. As others have surmised, you might have thought it was Mickey Dolenz--there is a resemblance--but it's not him.

Sadly, DC-Samurai died the day after he posted this. His last words were, "Must.......get to .......internet movie......database....."
He then collapsed.
We'll never know who he thought that little kid was.

Love it.
