Hi all

Check out sitcomsonline.com, wonderful site for info on old shows.

You can even hear the opening and closing theme song to TOPPER!

Have fun,

Thank you. I had been looking for a site like this one. Have not heard that theme for over forty years. Wonderful!

I have pretty fond memories of that show even though I was only a " Tot " at the time. One memorable ( and typical ) scene: one of the ghosts pulls the pistol out of a robbers hand and gives it to Topper who explains it away by saying the gun was " an automatic ". Sheesh! You had to be there.

You had to be there for all those lines, Cosmo had one in every show. The one I remember most involved a couple of bath towels flying across the air in front of Topper's stunned houseguests. He calmly stated to them that was to be expected as they were "Cannon" towels! And that is why they shoot across the room! Awesome!

Yes, great way of working a brand-name linen into a script/situation.

Of course, today a young viewer probably wouldn't know the name "Cannon" towels. Maybe a Cannon camera (if they still make them), or are making digital cameras?

I think the most well-known towels today would probably be Martha Stewart's line. But that certainly wouldn't have worked into "Topper."

I'm trying to recall some other makers of towels? "Monsanto" comes to mind, and I think there was a company called "Marcal."

Do you recall any more towel manufacturers?

Anyway, "Topper" was a clever show, and "The Kerbys" reminded me of those sophisticated and wisecracking couples in the detective films and series'--"The Thin Man" and "Mr. & Mrs. North."
