Ever shown on TV now?

I remember watching Topper as a small kid but I've never seen it since.
Why doesn't Nick at Night or a similar channel ever show this?

I just walked in to find my housemate playing a DVD of Topper containing four episodes of the original TV series from 1953. I saw George walking down the steps and I blurted out "That's Topper!" I recognized it instantly. He chuckled.

He says he got it at Border's Books so there is hope for Topper fanatics. Supposedly there are two DVDs out there. This one only lists episode synopses, including Topper trying to escape George and Marian on a vacation with his wife, a trip to Las Vegas gone awry, the one where his goddaughter wants to marry some Hollywood star, and the episode where Topper's wife wants to sell the house to some retired Army sergeant who has his daughter play revile on the bugle.

I'd be curious to see the pilot episode where Topper meets the ghosts. I only vaguely remember this show in re-runs as a kid.

Try Netflix, they seem to have some uncommon stuff.

Because Nick at Nite and TV Land now pander to people in their 30's and 40's and consequently, only have programming from the 70's-90's!!. For the most part all those shows stink!!! Bring back the original vintage comedies of the 50's and 60's on a new channel, and call it TV Vault, to unlock all those oldies but goodies - I would even pay a premium for a channel like that. Right now TV Land should just call themselves TV WasteLand as there is nothing good there anymore.

Here is a sample of the shows I want brought back - Topper, People's Choice, Bachelor's Father, Father Knows Best, Ozzie and Harriett, Donna Reed Show, Hazel, Dennis the Menace, Love that Bob.

Don't stop there... add Jack Benny, Burns and Allen, Amos N Andy, Red Skelton, and any of the westerns like Lawman, Have Gun Will Travel, The Rifleman, Cheyenne, Bronco, Sugarfoot, early Gunsmoke, and Wanted: Dead or Alive.

You guys are right on..............my mother and i talk about this constantly.........Nick at Nite and TV Land offer ONLY junk...........TV Land should air classic tv shows that truly represented how good tv could really be hence the name "TV Land"............

my mom agrees and wants them to bring back all the good shows she enjoyed as a kid.............like The Thin Man, Loretta Young Show, old variety shows of the 50's and 60's

Sure, like MTV and VH1, TV LAND should branch into two different channels. One that shows the junk shows from the 70's, 80's and 90's. and of course the classic shows from the 50's and 60's, including all the ones we posters have mentioned. That way they can cater to almost all the tastes of everyone.

Until then, they are TV WasteLAND.

TVLand *was* a spin-off of NICK AT NITE, to keep the classic stuff classic. Alas, it's been taken over by decidedly unworthy stuff. They need to spin off again, with nothing after, say 1965 permitted.

Wow, you guys are right on target with me!

I SWEAR!

If I win the Lotto, it's my dream to start a cable TV channel that features only CANCELLED and old, obscure TV shows! Maybe even some foreign shows, too.

That would be SO COOL - a place where you could still see TV shows that you'll never see again on the major or most cable networks!

There is a great channnel in the Chicagoland area that does show a lot of these GREAT old shows...Me TV and Me 2 (check them out online). I am launching a campaign to my provider (Directv) to get this station as a "superstation" so all of us living outside the Chicagoland area can enjoy GREAT TV. Plus, they are willing to give it to Directv for FREE! So if you have Directv, PLEASE pester them as much as possible to get this station! Let's all stick together and maybe we can all enjoy Tv that's NOT reality!
