Why did they move so often?

As I recall, there were 5 different living room sets for this show over an 11 year period. That's a lot of moving consdering they never left New York.

The first move occurred when Margaret died. Understandable that the old apartment would have too many painful memories. The second move was when Danny married Kathy, again undersytandable sinc eshe may have very different taste in decor. But two more moves? Were the sets damaged and they started from scratch?

I think a couple of the moves were not moves but re-decorating.

It always bugged me (and still does) that the front door never had a peephole. There isn't a single NYC apartment that doesn't have a peephole.

I grew up in a NYC apt during that time. All apts had peepholes.

The set designer was obvious from California and probably was unaware of peep holes in NYC apt doors.
