Amanda Randolph

This morning's episode had an Irish lady as the maid.
What happened to Louise?
Is her character sick, gone from the show or what?

I personally think she made the old Amos and Andy Show.
Would love to see it but it'll probably never be broadcast again.
Everyone knows people from all races who are represented by the individuals in the series.
I know a few Kingfishes but more people like Amos, who is hardworking and just trying to make a living. Cabbies I know do OK for themselves.
Calhoun the lawyer is the stereotype of ALL lawyers not just of one race.

We laughed at Archie Bunker and he still comes around on repeats.
Why can't we laugh at Kingfish??

Pert Kelton, today's maid, was only in that one episode as a "scrub woman" and Amanda Randolph was still in the show (through 1963.)

It was probably a "gimme" for Pert who hadn't worked in TV for a couple of years... so this episode gave her the exposure she needed to get back in the swing.

As for Amos 'n' Andy -- truly, a brilliant show that was only 78 episodes long (had a much longer run on the radio) and it's too bad the NAACP intervened and decided it was racist. No more so than Sanford/Son or many others.

c'est la vie.
