Gloria Blondell

Gloria Blondell (1910-1986), the younger sister of Joan Blondell (1906-1979), was quite a talented comedienne, who seldom got a chance to shine in a good comic role, but a few memorable ones were as a nurse in a hospital in the "LIFE OF RILEY" TV episode "Riley's Operation" in 1953, in which she plays to the hilt a wisecracking nurse who has one hilarious line in which she breaks the fourth wall, looking into the camera, and says "And to think I gave up the Psychiatric Ward for Surgery!"
Gloria then was offered the role as Honeybee Gillis, wife of Tom D'Andrea's character Jim Gillis on the show, in which she appeared in nearly every subsequent episode from 1953 to 1957. She made most of that supporting role, and was a welcome addition to the regular cast of the series.
Another fun comedy role for Gloria was as a bill collector who pesters college professor Cary (Hans Conreid) in Arch Oboler's classic sci-fi comedy B-movie THE TWONKY (1953).
Gloria was active in films and TV from 1935 to 1962, and had the distinction to be the first wife of famous James Bond 007 movie producer Albert R. "Cubby" Broccoli from 1940 to 1945.
