It's promoted as a chance to see a young James Dean and Natalie Wood, but the actor who makes the whole thing work is Eddie Albert as the Narrator (/older version of Dean's character). He does real justice to the adaptation of Sherwood Anderson's text.

Personally, I never thought either Dean or Natalie Wood had any great acting talent; Eddie Albert, on the other hand, was phenomenal.
