With A Song in My Heart

Those who have heard Jane Froman's voice in the wonderful film about her life, might be interested in helping to commemorate and celebrate her life.

A petition has been started to request the USPS to issue a stamp in honor of Jane Froman. There is a Jane Froman Centennial event planned in her hometown of Columbia, Missouri for 2007. Please sign the petition so we can get this small bit of history accomplished to honor a superb talent and truly remarkable woman as part of the celebration. It takes just two seconds to add your name. And if you can pass this on for more signatures, that would be a real help!

This is still one of my favorite films. I liked Susan the best in " I Want to Live "

This was probably the first Susan Hayward movie I ever saw and it holds a special place in my heart. I was a little disappointed when I learned later in life that Hayward's singing was dubbed, but when I learned she was dubbed by Jane Froman that made it OK for me. One of Susan's best films and greatest performances.

Ms. Froman was born in University City[a suburb of St. Louis]. What makes me sad is for years i 'drove' trains near to where she lived in Columbia,Mo.She is the 'First Woman of Song in Missouri'.I thought she might have taught at Stephens College in Columbia like Jean Arthur did; but that is not the case!I even saw her in a film on TCM recently, "Stars Over Broadway"-1935[she made 3 films-imdb lists them]. Who wrote the song,"With a Song in My Heart"?

reply

Rodgers & Hart.

Petitions at online sites carry absolutely no weight with anyone. They're a complete waste of time and limited effort. Anyone can sign multiple times using different email accounts, there's no way to valididate any of the "signatures" and so forth. If you really want to do this (start a campaign to get someone onto a postage stamp), do it right and quit wasting everyone's time. The post office has a very specific procedure for getting a person, place or event depicted on a postage stamp. Simply follow the steps and procedures that are required. Of course, that's going to take a little time and effort and real work, and it's so much easier to delude yourself into thinking that a couple of seconds posting your email address to a web page (the real sole purpose of which is to collect valid email addresses that the site then sells to advertisers AKA "spammers") does any good.
