Joan Crawford looked good in film.

She was about 48 when this was made and she looked very good for her age. She also did a fine acting job in this film. I think I'am now a J.C. fan. This is one of those early high end noirs that got past me and I really enjoyed the film.

I just saw this last night. I kept wondering what Joan's age was all throughout. I could tell she was middle-aged, but I admired her good looks--although I think the hairstyle aged her. Maybe it was intended to. I was really impressed by the scene where Joan hikes up her long skirt and gives the camera a generous view of her leg! WOW! I'm a major leg fiend, and when I saw her rolling the hose down I was shocked. It pays to have been a chorus girl, eh? LOL

I wouldn't trust IMDb for birth information; they've changed Joan's birth year around a lot. No one really knows Joan's exact year of birth (Texas, where she was born, didn't require birth certificates until about 1910).
Many believe she was born in 1904.

Joan, herself, claimed to have been born in 1908. That seems unlikely, however, for various reasons (if you're familiar with her history).

She was hideous! She looked like Boy George.
And, what's up with those eyebrows? Did she buy those at Sears?

Bette Davis said Joan Crawford was getting face lifts before anyone else in Hollywood knew what they were.

Joan looked scary, and her acting in "Sudden Fear" was often ludicrous -- mesmerizing, but ludicrous.

Still, I enjoyed the movie. It sure had a lot of PLOT going on. Joan was too ridiculous to be boring, and Jack Palance and Gloria Grahame were big assets.

Gotta say: The game with "Julius Caesar, Act 2, Scene 3" (or whatever) was one of the most hifalutin scenes in Hollywood history. I laughed out loud at the lunacy.

She still looked good in her later movies, although she had become a bit more hard-looking and had kinda lost the splendor of her heyday (gosh, she was so breathtakingly beautiful in 'Grand Hotel'). Still, she was in great shape and gave a wonderful performance (as always).

Despite all the different years you see, Crawford was born in 1903. She turned 49 while making SUDDEN FEAR.

Yes, she looked good, but I think this was just before her pulled-too-tight lift that gave her that Extreme Ultimate Crawford look.

According to ancestry.com she was born 23 march 1905. They have the
1910 census document for viewing.

In order to remain relevant, Joan always dressed in the latest fashion of the day.
However, fifties fashions did her no favors.

I think this is the film where Joan Crawford starts to play middle age. I watched this back to back with 'The Damned Don't Cry' (1950) in which she is still portrayed as a babe.

One thing I noticed about her is that she looks so good in close-ups of just her face on screen. The face without a wrinkle and the eyes and of course those trademark eyebrows.
