No idea, but it is available on R2 DVD now, as part of the Dirk Bogarde Collection. Pleased I discovered it. A beautiful film.

I agree. It is a beautiful film about an unusual relationship between a six years old boy and a man, neither of whom can go home again and all they have is each other. In fact, they become their own new family. If only Dirk Bogarde and Jon Whiteley could have stayed the ages they were at the time they made this film and never gotten any older. But, alas, tempus fugit reigns supreme in this world. The Region 2 DVD is well worth getting. I have a stand alone DVD copy (not from the box set) that contains the original trailer from the film and it runs rings around the kind of so called "trailers" they make today.
