Had a vinyl LP of this movie when I was a kid

When I was a kid, my family had a vinyl LP with narrated audio from this movie, and it was one of my favorites, although I'd never seen the actual movie.

So did I. I had not thought about those albums in years. Also had the LP for the Treasure Island film.(1950) These were part of a set of albums from Disney that were based on there more popular films of the era. I think that some of the other one were, 20,000 leauges under the sea, 101 Dalmations, Toby Tyler, Peter Pan,and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Some of these used the original soundtrack from the films,(Robin Hood,Treasure Island, and Peter Pan.) The others had new actors and music recorded for the albums. AHH, Good times!

I had one of those LPs also. My edition's cover sported a pen-and-ink illustration of RH/RT shooting an arrow. The drawing wasn't bad, but I still wonder what possessed them to use glaring magenta for the cover's background.

Still, it was great to have sections of Allan-a-Dale's songs ("Hark to the tale of Robin Hood, and of his Merrie Men...") and even a few snippets of dialogue. This was long before home videos were available and I cherished being able to hear the voice of Richard Todd, who at the time was my biggest crush.

Also had the Robin Hood and Treasure Island LPs. Had the dialogue memorized long before I saw either movie. This is my favorite Robin Hood movie: the story is more tightly plotted than may appear at first glance, plus..... Alan a Dale!!
