"Box Office Poison"

Another Crawford connection is the line "They said I was box office poison," as Margaret is explaining how she lost all her money. This was said about Joan Crawford in the late 1930s after a few flops. I can see why Joan did not want to do this film (too close to home), and Bette probably loved getting this part because of her disdain for Joan. And the fact she was nominated for an Oscar, icing on the cake! BTW, I think Bette deserved the Oscar for this, such a good movie, great performance, and so many in-joke lines. Just watched it all the way through for the first time and I've got to watch again.
